Trainers’ Interactive Session with Fr. Shilanand Kerketta SDB at Don Bosco Yuva Kendra Najafgarh

On August 16, 2024, from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm, Don Bosco Yuva Kendra, Najafgarh hosted an enriching session for its trainers and staff, led by Fr. Shilanand Kerketta SDB. The session saw the participation of 10 dedicated teachers and was marked by its interactive and engaging nature.

Fr. Shilanand began by introducing the life and legacy of St. John Bosco, the founder of the Salesian order. He emphasized the importance of the teachers’ role in sharing and continuing Don Bosco’s mission. Highlighting Don Bosco’s vision, he reiterated that every Salesian house should embody the qualities of a home, a school, a parish, and a playground thus catering to the development of body, mind, soul and spirit. This holistic approach aims to create a nurturing and supportive environment for the youth.

Throughout the session, Fr. Shilanand stressed the significance of accompanying youngsters in their journey. He encouraged the teachers to adapt their methods to meet the evolving needs of the youth, ensuring that their approach remains relevant and effective. He also underscored the importance of moral and value education, suggesting the incorporation of classes and awareness programs on various essential topics. These included soft skills, digital media literacy, love and friendship, pornography and other addictions, time management, on prayer, and a sense of the divine.

The session concluded with a heartfelt word of thanks from Mr. Toney, who expressed gratitude on behalf of the teachers and students. The participants left with a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper understanding of their role in fostering a supportive and dynamic educational environment at Don Bosco Yuva Kendra.
